HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 68

Designating the sugar cookie the official state cookie.
Whereas, On March 7, 1949, the Legislature designated the Sugar
Maple the state tree; and
Whereas, The sugar cookie recipe was perfected in the mid-1700s
in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, a neighboring Appalachian community;
therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Legislature hereby designates the sugar cookie the
official state cookie; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates is
hereby directed to forward a certified copy of this resolution to
the Governor.
